Where to Eat & Drink in the Yarra Valley

About an hour and a bit drive from Melbourne CBD, the Yarra Valley is a food and wine lover’s paradise.

Whether you’re in need of a few days away, looking for a place in Australia to enjoy a wine tour, or just want to go somewhere for a day trip, the Yarra Valley should be a top contender for you to consider.

This glorious area in the Victorian countryside is filled with numerous wineries, restaurants and cafes for you to visit and enjoy. Here are some of our ultimate favourites.

Four Pillars Distillery

A must for gin lovers and non-gin lovers (you’ll be a gin convert as soon as you leave). Pop in here for an exquisite gin cocktail and/or try their gin tasting experience to learn more about the various types of Four Pillars gin, how they make it and how you should serve and garnish your own gin cocktails at home.

Meletos

For a delicious rustic meal and industrial yet farmhouse chic environment. Try the pizza and grab a flight of beer or cider from their brewery next door. Their winery, Stones of the Yarra Valley, is also a must to visit.

Tarrawarra

Come here for lunch, or simply just a wine tasting. Their state of the art cellar door is a design lover’s dream with a unique barrel shaped room, which is super cool just to go and see.

Giant Steps

A huge open industrial-looking modern dining hall space, that serves some of the most delicious food you’ll taste in the Yarra. Their wood fire pizza is to die for, and don’t go home without trying their dessert. Wine tasting is also available here.

De Bortoli

Full of history, De Bortoli is one of the oldest wine companies in Australia. Head here to taste their delectable wines at their cellar door, have a gourmet wine and cheese pairing experience with cheeses from their on-site cheese shop, or head to their Italian restaurant.

Zonzo

Both a winery and an Italian restaurant, this is perfect spot to come for lunch and a few glasses of wine with friends.

Tokar Estate

A great spot to drop in for wine tasting. Their wines are delicious, and they have a fancy restaurant here too if you’d like to treat yourself with a meal.

Yarra Valley Dairy

Fancy cheese tasting or need a coffee and cake pep up? This shabby-chic farmhouse is the place for you. There’s a fabulous little gift shop with delicious treats from the Yarra Valley to buy. If you’re in mood for more wine tasting you can also try a range of Yarra Valley’s finest here.

Oakridge

You won’t leave Oakridge without finding one, two, three, or more, wines, you love. Wine tasting at their cellar door is a must. Start from the lighter whites and make your way to their glorious reds. There’s a restaurant at Oakridge too, which is said to be first class.

Yering Station

One of the most well-known wineries in the Yarra Valley, Yering Station’s rustic cellar door is one not to miss. If you’re wanting to enjoy a fine dining experience, their restaurant is one to consider too.

Dominique Portet

Head here for wine tasting and go home with a bottle, or a few. Their rosé  is delicious, as is their chardonnay.
