The Polka Dot

The polka dot is similar to the stripe, as it’s a pattern that will forever be a style classic. Dissimilarly, despite being a style classic, the polka dot is not ‘on trend’ as regularly as the stripe.

Dependant on how they are styled, polka dots can have a reputation of being a little dowdy, and dare I say it, a little cheap.

BUT, alas, this season I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how the polka dot has been applied.

Cute flowy dresses, OTS tops, and feminine silk shirts landed into stores, each either showing off a mini or midi polka dot, or sometimes even a risqué choice of the mix of dots.

In my books, my little polka dot number has trend ticks all over it. With a touch of the cold shoulder, a bit of flow, and a slight high neck, the trends are seriously off the Richter, non?

I must admit I think I’m coming around to the polka dot a little more…still doesn’t take over my love of stripes, but perhaps a tad on par…maybe.
