Liverpool is quickly becoming UK’s place to be for the stylish foodie.
With new, super cool cafes and restaurants opening each month, the city is popping with delicious spots to eat and drink.
If you’re a fashionista either visiting or living in Liverpool, you’re honestly spoilt for choice. So, I thought I’d let you in on a few of the stylish places to eat here.
Here’s where I love to go for coffee, wine, cake, work, and relax.
A Cheese & Wine Fix
Cheese & Co – You all know how much I love my cheese and wine. I keep trying to go completely vegan, but the one thing stopping me is cheese. I just can’t seem to say goodbye to it. Cheese & Co is my go-to place in Liverpool for a cheese board. Their cheese is honestly to die for, and they have a wonderful wine list to explore too. If cheese and wine ain’t your thing (really? who doesn’t like cheese and wine?!), Cheese & Co have an amazing range of gourmet sandwiches, salads, cakes and other yummy things to indulge in. They also do a mean cup of coffee!
E’s cheese tip: Try the Snowdonia Bomb, it’s mouthwateringly incredible.
A cosy spot to hide away
Cow & Co – Want to know where I hang out at least once or twice a week?! Cow & Co! It’s such a cute and quirky little cafe hidden down a side street in Liverpool city centre. It’s only small, but it’s the perfect place for a coffee catch up with friends, or to come and work for an hour or so. Their coffee reminds me of Melbourne coffee, it’s that good, and they have the best selection of sandwiches. I have to mention their cakes too. They are so damn delicious…trust me, I’ve tried nearly every one!
E’s sandwich pick: I love having the smashed avo on an open sandwich topped with haloumi.
For a health injection
Our Kitchen – When we moved to Liverpool from Melbourne, I really missed my “Melbourne cafes”. Cafes that are super healthy, have a quirky yet yum menu, and have a really inspiring space to hang out, (oh and most importantly to me) have a wide range of vegetarian dishes. There just didn’t seem to be much of a cool cafe scene here. However, thankfully this is changing really, really rapidly. New and amazing places are popping up every week and I’m feeling really excited to see Liverpool evolve. It’s really starting to remind me of Melbourne (Australia’s foodie capital).
Anyway, one of these new places was a cute little spot I stumbled upon on my birthday. I was heading out to get myself a little cake, when my eyes spotted a very crisp, clean and green cafe. To my absolute delight it was a fully vegetarian cafe, with both a vegetarian AND vegan menu! Hello E heaven! The cafe certainly didn’t disappoint either, with alkaline juices, veg-licious meals, healthy desserts, and calming mylks, I literally wanted to try everything!
E’s healthy choice: The kale and hummus toast was delish. Loved the charcoal juice too, oh and the golden mylk.
To work, chill, breakfast, wine or coffee
HUS – HUS has become one of my favourite places to come and work. I bring my laptop and order coffee after coffee (or sometimes a bottle of wine), and work away. The space is huge with a bit of an industrial feel about it, and the decor is really cool with funky furniture and cosy corners. I actually find HUS a very inspiring and relaxing place to be, it has such a cool vibe about it. If you don’t need to work, it’s also great to come with friends for a bite to eat or an afternoon drink.
E’s fave things: Oh my gosh, their breakfast is incredible! I love the porridge, and the toast with the fruit and granola on top is mouthwatering.
Welcome to flavour city
Mowgli – Probably one of the best restaurants in Liverpool city centre, Mowgli is amazing, and yes it’s certainly flavour city. The Indian restaurant serves proper Indian street food, and when I say proper, I mean it. Having just come back from India, I know Mowgli is as authentic as they come. Each dish is wham-packed with flavour and taste. It’s healthy and so delish. We always take our friends to Mowgli when they come to visit, and they go home dreaming about the food! If you do anything in Liverpool, please make sure you go here, you won’t be disappointed!
E’s Indian treat – Everything on the menu is incredible so you can’t go wrong. However, I do especially love the paneer, chat bombs, bhel puri, salted caramel ice cream and the lychee rose martini.
