Unique independent brands are something I’m so passionate about.
Coming from Australia, where individuality is so heavily embraced, I can’t help but be a champion for the boutique.
Whether it’s fashion or beauty brands, hotels, restaurants, cafes – anything different and I’m all over it.
I’ve mentioned before it took me a while to come to terms with how much the high street is a massive thing in the UK. I think as Australia is so far away from the rest of the world, it’s given us a chance to not get so inspired by and caught up with the chain trend. It’s given us some breathing space to be creative and create independent companies.
This is why I’m on a mission to discover uniqueness in the UK, and I’ve certainly found it with jewellery brand/designer, Diana Porter.
Diana Porter has the most innovative and interesting jewellery pieces I’ve seen in a long time. With a diverse range of collections created with a selection of diamonds and semi-precious stones, which come in all different colours, shapes and sizes, the brand is perfect for anyone who likes bespoke, one of a kind, individual and contemporary jewellery.
The brand also has a strong social conscious, (all of their gold jewellery pieces are made in Fairtrade Gold as standard), making it, in my books, even more beautiful and distinctive – which I’m not sure is even possible!
As a huge lover of Diana Porter’s pieces, I was utterly delighted to have the opportunity to style a few items from their latest collection, Emerge.
The one of a kind collection, is unlike any I’ve ever seen before. With a whitened silver finish, the pieces, as Diana Porter describes, ’emulate buds emerging and crustacea forming as if by magic in unlikely places’. The buds, which are meticulously hand sculpted, are featured on each piece in the collection, including earrings, necklaces and bangles. Connected with chains and hoops, the pieces connect and emerge together, ‘unbroken and continual, emanating new beginnings’.
Unique jewellery is something I believe is timeless, classic and forevermore. This jewellery can provide both a dramatic, statement-making twist to an otherwise minimalistic outfit, or can create a delicate touch to a quirky look.
No matter the outfit, the Emerge collection suits all.
Let me show you how.

The A/W Coat
To pair with a structured statement autumn/winter coat, choose minimal jewellery. Whip your hair back and pop on some small earrings like the Small ‘Emerge’ Ear Studs I’m wearing with this houndstooth coat.
The Turtleneck
The turtleneck is always a must-have winter piece. They’re not only warm, they are timeless and chic, and go with everything. As you’re quite covered up with a turtleneck, you want to inject some fun to break up the blank canvas. I say go for a big feature necklace, just like the ‘Emerge’ Double Hoop Necklace.
I also love the look of hoop earrings styled with any kind of turtleneck/sweater/knit, there’s something quite 80s about it. If you’re into the look too, try the ‘Emerge’ Hoop Earrings – I’m obsessed with them!
The Pretty Blouse
When styling a blouse that has quite a lot going on, you want to keep the jewellery minimal, but still ensure it has a slight splash of edge.
For me, the Large Ear Studs and Hoop Earrings from the Emerge collection are the perfect choice. I just love how they look styled together, so quirky and creative. If you don’t have two piercings like me, don’t worry. Wearing just one of these pairs will look amazing on you and will still edge up your look.
The Blazer
The power blazer has been on trend for the last few seasons, and isn’t going away anytime soon. As the blazer is quite a masculine item, I’d recommend styling it with delicate jewellery to slightly soften the look. I love the combination of the ‘Emerge’ Bangle and Bracelet. They are beautiful pieces on their own, but together they create magic.
The Velvet Jacket
Velvet is plush, luxurious and elegant. It’s a material you don’t need to over complicate when styling, it speaks for itself. That’s why when styling this pink velvet jacket, I needed to chose something delicate, nothing too brash or too bold. The ‘Emerge’ Small Double Hoop Necklace perfectly complimented the jacket and added an extra level of glamour and sophistication to the look.
Nothing…Or an Evening Gown
O la la, jewellery with lingerie, there’s nothing more sexier. If you’re styling silk, satin or lace pieces for either daywear or nightwear, continue the elegance with subtle details.
I adore both the Large and the Medium ‘Emerge’ Ear Studs, and think they look incredibly sexy, beautiful and feminine both on their own, or styled together, as I have done. These earrings would be perfect for pairing with a slinky satin evening gown, a lace camisole, or even nothing at all.
Are you into unique independent brands? Do you invest in classic jewellery pieces? Xx
