It’s back! The second instalment of my series Work, Wine, Weekend is here. If you’re new to this article series, Work, Wine, Weekend is where I show you how to take one item, be it clothing, an accessory, shoes, or jewellery, and style it for, yes you guessed it, work, wine time, and the weekend.
It’s a bit of fun, and will hopefully give you some motivation to be creative with the items in your wardrobe.
This time I’m taking on the challenge of styling a very statement-making snakeskin print skirt.
I utilised the real wow-factor of the skirt to create three very unique looks, perfect for the occasion at hand.
Let me know which one you prefer.
I always say don’t be afraid of mixing print on print.
Deciding to take my own advice for this Work look, I clashed the snake print skirt with a polka dot blouse. The blouse is so floaty and feminine, and it was able to settle the brash style of the skirt to create a gorgeously girly look.
As the skirt and blouse combination did all the talking, I didn’t want to over-complicate the outfit any more. Choosing a theme of gold and white for the shoes and accessories suited perfectly, and gave a classy touch to the overall look.
Backless loafers are my shoe of the moment. They’re so crazy comfy, instantly stylish, and are a must for every busy #GirlBoss running around all day.
Sportsluxe for a Wine time outfit? Hells yeah you can do it!
Think – it’s Friday night, you’ve had a busy week, and are dying for a quick wine out.
The only problem – you can’t be bothered dressing up.
This is where a sportsluxe-esque outfit comes in to play. Styling the snakeskin pleated skirt with a long sleeve light jumper is a casual, yet not-too-casual look, and it can totally work for a night out. Yes it’s comfortable and warm, tick tick, but it looks really cool too.
Of course, the mixing prints is happening (stripes x snakeskin), but not so much as what you rocked at work. This time, you’re playing with colour!
The bright, bold pops of colour from the blue and red give some life to look, and also makes it incredibly ‘in’ for SS/17.
I can’t go on to the Weekend look and not mention the platform mules. I found them on sale for £5 last week and I HAD to snap them up. They’re so easy to walk in (perfect if you’ve had a few too many wines!), and are really flattering on your legs. I’m obsessed!
Not into print mixing? Then this is the look for you.
Perfect for lunch dates, cocktails, a trip to a show – the options are endless with this Weekend outfit.
The first thing you notice about this look is the silhouette. The balloon shape of the sweater mixed with the straight edge cut of the skirt, and the angular points of the boots – it’s a real lesson on how to team different shapes together, and make it work.
Colour-wise this outfit is quite minimalistic. Despite this, each piece is a statement on it’s own, and combined together they are a match made in classic chic statement heaven.
