Over the weekend, we were delighted to attend the launch of Liverpool’s new most Instagrammable restaurant, The Florist. Located on Hardman Street in Liverpool City Centre, the restaurant lies where Liverpool’s popular restaurant, The Blind School, used to be based.
With new restaurants opening up constantly, The Florist is another culinary delight for the city. It has embraced the fundamental principles of floristry to create a sensory world, where you can experience a range of delicious non-vegetarian, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes, all with a botanical twist; enjoy a wide range range of fragrant cocktails, from Lavender Thistle Gin to Balloons of Jasmine Brandy; listen to daily music and nightly DJs; and of course, get lost in floral-centric decor, which makes you feel like you’ve been transported into Alice in Wonderland.
To present the variety of offerings at The Florist, the magnificent launch ran over two days – a cocktail evening on the Saturday and a roast lunch on the Sunday.
On Saturday we had our senses charmed through various masterclasses, including ale and gin tasting, flower bouquet making with The Art of Floristry, cocktail making, and a recipe workshop, where we tasted the incredible lavender honey and sunflower loaf with whipped goat’s cheese butter, which is specially baked by The Florist (I highly recommend you try this for starters!).
The Florist’s cocktail menu is inspired by the key styles of floristry: English Garden (try the Coconut and Poppy Mojito), Ikebana (I’d like to try the Hibiscus and Grapefruit Martini), and Modern Contemporary (try the Elderflower and Lychee Daiquiri). We were lucky to try a range of these cocktails throughout the night, and they were unique, delicious, and very, very pretty.
The Florist is not only a restaurant and bar, they also offer cocktail, gin and floristry masterclasses, which are definitely worth signing up for if you’re looking for something different to do over a weekend, a birthday or for a girl’s night.
On Sunday we enjoyed a roast lunch, something The Florist offers each Sunday. The Mushroom, Red Lentil, Stilton and Chestnut Roast was divine, and for dessert, the Orange and Lavender Creme Brûlée was delicious, however I’d recommend for you to also try the Hazelnut, Chocolate and Banana Spring Roll – yum!
Drinks wise, the Bloody Marys were fantastic, and the Hazy View Chenin Blanc from South Africa, paired well with my vegetarian dishes.
The Florist is without a doubt going to be one of the most popular hot spots for food and cocktails in the Liverpool. Not only does it have the most beautiful interior I’ve seen a restaurant have in a long time, the food is comforting, and the array of cocktails is endless.
Welcome to sensory heaven.
