Snake print, like leopard print, is a timeless and classic pattern, that’ll never go out of style. Animal print pieces are therefore wonderful investments for your wardrobe. Not only do they provide a gorgeous statement splash to any outfit, you can also continue to wear them season after season.
Many of us love playing with statement pieces. They are fun and always add a bit of fashionista magic to a look. However, despite their fabulousness, they can sometimes be hard to style to create different looks.
This always seems to happen with one-piece pieces. Whether it’s dresses, jumpsuits or playsuits, they always seem to be difficult items to re-invent and re-style.
In a world where a lot of the time it’s deemed uncool to wear a piece more than once, many of us buy these one-piece items and consequently only wear them a handful of times. Then we go out and do it all over again! New event, new dress, new event, new dress. Do you know we’re giving in to the throw away society by doing this?! We’re also frivolously spending.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my shopping, but as I’m growing older I’m learning that there’s no need to buy so much all the time. By moving overseas and starting my blogging business, I’ve also had to make spending sacrifices. I work full time as a blogger (it’s actually a full time job x 100, no one really realises ;)), and I’m going to be completely frank with you, it’s damn hard when you don’t know when your next pay check is coming in. I’m sure many other girl bosses starting businesses can relate too. I’m not going to go into all my personal details, but I want to let you know, it’s honestly not the end of the world if you don’t have a brand new outfit for each soiree you attend.
Yes, mic drop right there! You CAN wear that dress AGAIN. You just need to learn how to be creative!
If you knew how to style a piece many different ways, would you wear it more often? The answer is yes, you would.
There are so many advantages to being your own boss, and one of them is learning to be thrifty and creative. So babes, if you have no idea what I’m talking about and think it would be silly to wear something more than once…you’ve come to the right place.
I’m launching a brand new series on The Emasphere. This series, called One Piece Wonder, will not only show you how to have fun and be creative with your style, but my ultimate goal is to encourage you to wear that one-piece (dress, jumpsuit, playsuit) more than once! You can do it, I know you can!
Today I’m kicking off the series by showing you how to style a snake print maxi shirt dress, four different ways. I’m using accessories, shoes and a few clothing items, to transform the dress and show you that that one-pieces is still a fantastic addition to your wardrobe!
E. Xx
Look One
To break up the snake print pattern, throw on a sleeveless vest or sweater. Unbutton the shirt dress to create a bit of a sexy slit and pop on knee high boots. Then finish the look with some gorgeous glam earrings for a bit of wow!
Look Two
This is probably my favourite look of the lot. Work with the colour tones of the dress and go from there! Cinch in your waist and break up the print with a big belt; pop on white pointed mules to create an on-trend and streamlined look; add some sexy statement earrings (yes you can do snake earrings with snake print!); and top the look off with a fedora for a bit of added quirk.
Look Three
How do you add a pop of colour into the look you ask? Easy! Accessorise! Pink and red are the colour combination of the moment, but if you’re not too into it bright colour x bright colour, don’t worry you can still rock this colour trend. Instead of choosing hot pink, go for a blush or light pink and match it with a bright red. Take this look as an example, spot the blush pink jewellery, light pink mules, and the red hot belt. You’re killing the on-trend colour combo, only subtly.
Look Four
You don’t always have to wear a dress as a dress, you know. It can totally double as a top. Yes, major tick for versatility there! Style the dress with jeans underneath and voila, you have completely transformed the look. Don’t be afraid of mixing patterns too. You can totally rock snake print with floral – see below as an example!
