I love when you pop an outfit together and realise you’ve actually nailed a handful of spring/summer 2017 fashion trends in the one look. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m loving the trends for spring/summer. Yes, there are the (groundbreaking) florals, bright colours and floaty pieces as per, but this season is also showing a real injection of minimalism with fine lines, crisp edges and statement shapes.
There’s a real movement towards basic, easy to wear clothing, such as oversized white shirts, denim jeans, and slides and mules. Simplicity is key for this minimalistic trend. Instead of making a statement with an out-there floral pattern, the wow factor comes with how pared back the look is styled… and from the ruffles (they are a spring/summer must no matter what trend you’re trying).
These are the three easy to wear trends you should know about for spring/summer 2017.
Denim (jeans in particular) is massive. Distressed, embellished and two-tone jeans are taking over in ankle-busting, straight leg and flare styles. Taking note of the minimalism trend, you can simply team your almost statement-making jeans with a simple white shirt (maybe one with a bit of ruffle for a pop of wow… I’ll get to that in a minute), and plain jane mules in a one tone colour, and voila, you have nailed a surprisingly easy, trend heavy look.
Now to ruffle your feathers with ruffles. It seems like ruffles have been ‘in’ for ages, and it’s true, they have. So if you ask me, they’re a trend worth investing in.
For spring/summer, the ruffles have developed to create even more of a statement than before. They are bigger, more ruffle-ly (making up words, but you know what I mean!), and are literally taking over whole pieces. By this I mean, they’re not just the simple small ruffle we were seeing on sleeves or necklines last year. They have spread like wildfire and are everywhere, all over tops, bottoms, dresses, you name it. The bigger the ruffle, the better.
If you haven’t ruffled in the ruffles yet, then get ruffling, babes. My prediction – they won’t be going out of fashion for a while, and even if they do, who cares. They’re such a fun style and will be a part of my wardrobe for a long time coming.
Now for the mule. You guys know how much I love a good mule. So much so, I put up two articles last week talking about them (9 Affordable Mules for Spring & Styling Bright Pink Mules). The mule is another trend that won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
We were wearing the pointed mule for winter, and now the mule sandal has hit stores for spring/summer. What’s best thing about mules you ask? They are just so damn comfortable. Maybe it’s just me, but even if you opt for a stiletto mule, they still seem so comfy and easy to walk in. They’re one of my favourite types of shoes (as you saw last week I’m gaining quite the collection), and they’re another trend I highly recommend you invest in.
So babes, without even noticing you can easily rock it like the fash-pack and simply nail this season’s hottest trends.
Effortless, easy and classic styling… it’s fashion perfection for everyone in my books.
