It is not often you stay at an affordable hotel and are impressed with every single thing about it. From the decor, the staff, the technology, the style, the food, to the bed, the towels, and of course the disco lights in the room… citizenM Tower of London hotel honestly wowed me from the moment I walked in, to the moment I reluctantly walked out.
When it comes to stylish places to stay in London, citizenM is certainly up there. Any fabulous fashionista, quirky aesthetic-lover, creative cat, or tech-head, would be in their element here, and I seriously can’t wait to show and tell you why.
Chilling at the Downstairs Hangout
Walking into the lobby area, you’re instantly transported to a place of cool.
Your eyes dart from one side of the room to the other, soaking up every feature. Floor to ceiling shelving cover the walls with fun knick knacks and piles of books perfectly placed on top; there are several lounge areas with the most unusual sofas and chairs to relax in; and then of course, there’s the square bar that offers you the best cocktails, ever!
To check-in, you need to get your little tech-brain on and do it yourself (the super friendly staff are around if you need any help!). You tap your details in on a screen and make your own room card, which you can keep as a little souvenir if you wish. To check-out at the end of your stay, you simply go back to the screen and do it yourself again. Talk about an efficient and modern way of working!
Even if you’re not staying at citizenM, you can come and use the space to work in, just like you would a co-working space. You can also book rooms for business meetings, which is perfect if you work from home, or are travelling for work.
Honestly, how cool is this place…
Step into the Bedroom
Now for the bedroom… hello futuristic.
The spacious rooms have everything you want and need in a hotel room, if not more! The XL king size bed is literally the biggest bed I’ve ever seen, and I’m not joking when I say, the comfiest too. The pillows are also incredible, they’re so plush! Despite London being the uber cool city it is, I would actually consider missing a day of sightseeing just to relax all day in this bed. It’s just like you’re sleeping on clouds… who would think you could get so excited over a bed?!
Then there’s the shower. I know I’m getting very OTT about the bed, but my gosh, the shower is equally as fabulous. I messaged my boyfriend after having a shower here and said “that was the best shower I’ve had in years!”. It has one of those massive shower heads, so it’s literally like you’re bathing in the rain. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated afterwards. To top things off, the shower has disco lights. Yep, that’s right, disco lights. You can control them too. Whatever colour mood you’re feeling at the time, whether it’s calming blue, or sensual red, you can choose. Pretty cool huh?!
Of course, I can’t forget the most futuristic part of the room… the iPad controller! Everything in the room, be it the window blinds, TV, air con, radio, disco lights, can all be controlled by this super cool tablet. You can even use it to set an alarm to wake you up in the morning.
If you’re lucky when you stay at citizenM Tower of London, you can also have a room with the most incredible views of city (make sure you ask the staff to see if they have any of these rooms available for you!). These rooms have a perfect view of the Tower of London and The Shard. It’s pretty magical staring out your window at night and seeing all the twinkling lights, then waking up to watch the sunrise over what is a gorgeous historical city.
Work, or Play?
Take the lift up to level 7, and you’re immediately welcomed into another fabulous space, with wow-factor city views.
Taking inspiration from the downstairs lobby area, the bar has floor to ceiling shelves jam-packed with books and trinkets to keep you occupied for hours. Fancy art, including a pop art collage of the Queen, also adorn the walls. It seriously feels like you’re in one of the best creative hubs in the city.
You can wander up to this area to have a mouthwatering cocktail, and take in the glorious surroundings by either relaxing on their #decorgoals chairs, or by heading out onto the balcony (which I used as a shoot location for my latest outfit post).
This area is also known as societyM, which you can use as your work space for conferences and meetings. Say goodbye to un-inspirational, drab work spots, and hello to a funky area, designed to keep your creative juices flowing and your brain switched on.
And, after your fabulously successful business deals are done and dusted, what better place to have a drink and celebrate than at this wonderful cityscape bar.
Fill That Belly, Quench That Thirst
Then there’s the food!
There’s no room service at citizenM, but that’s so okay!
Downstairs they have a little section called canteenM where they have an open kitchen that serves a variety of food based on the time of the day. From delicious healthy muesli, and not so healthy but oh-s0-yum pastries in the morning, to a range of light and hearty meals for lunch and dinner that you can’t help but be obsessed with, you seriously won’t go hungry 24/7.
You can also grab a fabulously brewed coffee, or something a little bit stronger if you wish (have I mentioned how great the cocktails are?!), so there’s a bite to eat or something to sip, to suit everyone!
For breakfast I had Primrose’s Kitchen muesli (see the picture below), which was SO delish! I topped it with chia seeds, coconut, fresh fruit and compote, and it was incredible! I then had a pain au raisin, and I was automatically transported back to France. As I had eaten so many goodies while I was in London, I had to stop at the one pastry… otherwise I could have stay there all morning eating every single one in sight! #pastryqueen
So, what do you think? Will you be booking a stay at citizenM Tower of London hotel soon?! I’m certainly counting down the days until I stay again! Xx
