Brunches until 4pm, all day dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, insanely mouthwatering desserts, and not to mention an array of good coffee and cocktails, Roast is the perfect spot for any time of the day you’re feeling a little peckish or parched.
Roast was our little slice of delicious heaven when we wanted to find a safe haven from the scorching Bangkok heat. Located in the newly built and very impressive EmQuartier shopping destination, next to BTS Phrom Phong Station, the restaurant boasts a fabulous menu along with a modern and fresh décor.
Celebrating the authentic creation of food, Roast loves to experiment with their dishes to design a foodie’s paradise (food Instagram snaps are a must here!). Their bread is baked daily by their in-house bakers, and this year they’ve started creating their own ice cream, making it easier for them to come up with gorgeous flavours that perfectly match their desserts.
This is certainly the kind of place where you can sit for hours and watch in awe of the dishes that whiz past you, all while soaking up the buzzing environment. Everything on the menu looks and sounds too good to be true, hello Vodka Arrabiata Spaghetti and Passionfruit Semifreddo!
Here are a few of the dishes we tried and recommend. I hope it makes it slightly easier for you to pick!
- Pulled Pork Burger – Comes with the most ah-mazing chips! My partner ate the burger (and said it was fab), but I stole chips a plenty.
- Zucchini and Walnut Pesto Spaghetti – I am a hard critic on pesto after I went to Italy, but this pesto, I can say, is bellissimo!
- Iced Espresso Latte – The strongest, most unsweetened and incredibly made ice coffee you’ll have in Asia. You just need to get this coffee to experience it – the ice cubes are made from coffee, brilliant!
- Chocolate Nutella Tart with Grapefruit Sorbert– All I can say is, WOW. This dish is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favour and try it!
Excitingly, Roast will make a new home at The Commons Thonglor by the end of the year. Building is now in progress to create a sanctuary that will hold some of Bangkok’s best food purveyors as well as lush gardens, herb and veggie patches, and exquisite restaurants, including Roast. I know I’m looking forward to visiting this unique, innovative and healthy space when I head back to Bangkok again.
