I said a while ago I wanted to add more beauty articles to my blog, but alas, I haven’t really done so.
I’m a huge amateur when it comes to beauty and makeup products. So, I thought I’d start to take you with me on my journey of learning more about skincare, haircare, fragrance and makeup.
Recently, I’ve been testing out a whole range of products from various different brands.
From finding the most incredible moisturiser my face has ever discovered, to smelling like honeycomb, and contouring like a Kardashian (well trying to), here are the products I’ve been trying.
Charlotte Tilbury – Magic Cream
I’ve been on the look out for a good moisturiser for a long time, and I’ve finally found it! Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is illuminating, hydrating, anti-aging, lifting and instantly perfects dull skin. It really does it all.
The cream soaks into the skin as soon as you pop it on, and creates a flawless and radiant base for your makeup. I even love just wearing this cream on it’s own without make up.
The cream doesn’t come cheap (it’s about £80 a pop), but as you don’t need to use much of it, it will last you. This is honestly an investment worthwhile. It comes in the cutest ever jar too, so it’s not only fabulous for your face, it’s pretty in your bathroom too.
Little tip: Make sure you follow Charlotte’s application tips for a Pro-Collagen Wonder Workout, it really does wonders.
Rouge Bunny Rouge – Aqua Primer
A good primer is imperative in creating a flawless canvas before you begin applying your make up.
The Aqua Primer has a water-based texture, which is super, super, super light. Once you pop it on your skin, your face instantly feels refreshed, velvety and ready for whatever you’ll throw on it. The Aqua Primer isn’t just fabulous as a primer, it has so many skin-excelling benefits too.
Made with a load of goodies, including Sea-Buckthorn Berry Extract, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Saccharide Isomerate, Bisabolol, Vitamin E Acetate and Retinol Palmitate, the product helps with anti-aging, diminishing fine lines, reducing inflammation, and improving the skin’s texture by hydrating, firming and smoothing.
Say hello to a too-good-to-be-true primer.
Armani Beauty – Luminous Silk Foundation
It’s silky and luminous alright!
This is my first Armani foundation I’ve ever used and I absolutely love it. It’s seamless to apply, and soaks into the skin for a flawless complexion.
Best thing is, depending on the coverage you’d like, you can keep applying the foundation without it becoming ‘cakey’.
Armani Beauty – Fluid Sheer
I was so excited to try Fluid Sheer! I hear it’s a bit of a cult product, and I can see why.
I mix it in with my Luminous Silk Foundation, which creates an even more illuminating and glowing complexion.
You can also use the Fluid Sheer on it’s own before you pop on your foundation, or as a highlighter. I have to admit I haven’t tried these other two ways yet, as I’ve loved the simplicity of adding it to the foundation – I will experiment soon though!
Charlotte Tilbury – Hollywood Contour Wand
So this is my first ever contouring product! Yep I know, using Charlotte Tilbury is a pretty lush way to begin contouring!
The contour wand is easy to apply and blend, especially as it has a cushion applicator. So it’s perfect for contour-beginners, like me!
To help me, I’ve been following Charlotte’s application techniques, which include:
1. Start by sucking in your cheekbones and sweeping the product in a diagonal/horizontal stripe on the cheekbone hollows to your hairline.
2. Apply vertical lines on the sides of your nose, and horizontal lines on your forehead, temples and jawline.
3. Buff and blend, until you say hello to Hollywood-perfect cheekbones.
Pixi Beauty – ItsEyeTime
Wowza, this eyeshadow palette is the bomb.
Super pigmented and very blend-able, the ItsEyeTime palette includes twelve light to dark, and matte to glitter shades.
I have experimented quite a lot with these eyeshadows and I must say you can achieve pretty much any look, from smokey to bronzey, from glittery to orangey. Any kind of look, for any kind of occasion.
Recently, I’ve been blending the orange and the gold for daytime, and choosing the copper and bronze for evening.
This palette is especially fab when you don’t have much time to think about applying shadow, as you can literally just sweep the product across your eye, blend a little, and voila it looks great.
Rouge Bunny Rouge – Raw Garden Eye Shadow Palette
Oooo this is such a fabulous multi-dimensional eye palette, which can be blended to create a beautiful day to night eye.
Created with Argan Oil, the eyeshadow has an incredibly soft, lightweight texture, making it very easy to apply. The palette comes with four different colours which can be used together or separately, depending on the type of look you’re wanting to achieve.
An amazing advantage about this palette is that you can apply it in a multitude of various ways to create an either luminous or natural eye look. You can pop it on either wet or dry, and apply it with your fingers (which is what I tend to do!) or with a brush.
No matter what you choose, the eyeshadow goes on seamlessly silky and has a satin-matte finish.
Oh the packaging is gorgeous too.
Armani Beauty – Eyes to Kill Classico
Luscious eyelashes without using fake eyelashes. Is there such a thing?!
There is with the Eyes to Kill Classico mascara from Armani. With a few sweeps, lashes are volumised, extended and defined to create a dramatic, high-impact and sexy look.
This is the best mascara I’ve used in a long time. It’s not clumpy and doesn’t make my lashes stiff and dry like many mascaras can. It’s also super easy to take off when you’re removing your make up, which is V rare.
This mascara certainly gives you eyes to kill…pardon the pun. 😉
Lipstick Queen – Black Lace Rabbit Lipstick
Sexy, dark and mysterious, the Black Lace Rabbit Lipstick by Lipstick Queen, is a shocker, but in a good way.
At first, when you see this lipstick, you assume you’re going to have deep dark black lips. However, the black and gold flecked lipstick, is surprisingly sheer, and has an aim of creating the effect of wearing black lace on your lips.
If worn alone, the lipstick will produce a very light blackish sheen to the lip’s natural colour. Worn on top of another lipstick, it will transform the colour into a smokier version.
With Mango Seed Butter, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and Black Soybean Extract, the lipstick not only provides a sultry look, it’s nourishing and conditioning for the lips too.
Fenty Beauty – Gloss Bomb
Rihanna has had huge success with her Fenty Beauty line, and I’m not surprised.
Gloss Bomb is the only product I’ve tried from the range so far, but I’m already obsessed. The gloss is ultra glossy, illuminating and thick, so it not only creates glossy, slightly glittery and very kissable lips, it also has amazing staying power.
Gloss Bomb is an universal lipgloss, and comes in a neutral shade, suits any skin tone and can be worn alone or on top of another lip colour.
DKNY – Nectar Love
With notes of neroli and honeycomb, this perfume is a pure sweet light delight, with a touch of florals and fruit, and a splash of sophistication.
Perfect for any time of the year – yep this fragrance can be worn for both summer and winter; great for everyday; and perfect for evening time, this is my new favourite smell.
And hello, could you get any yummier than honey?! Mmm mmm!
